ART FAIR HAUL at Guibo Mi Yan: A Pop-up Art Fair in Naga City

I can describe this experience as one of the most impulsively worth it shopping I had for I've spent half of my allowance, picking art goodies from table to table. HAHAHA.

As someone who lives far from the metro, it's always refreshing to be able to attend events that doesn't frequent Naga City (or i'm just seriously outdated). But still, I was so happy to meet the artists I only get to stalk on Instagram and admire their works of art on screen. But seeing them in person and being able to buy the product of their passion and hard work, it's a different kind of fulfillment. It's being able to support the local indie artists (Yay, go indie!) and get inspiration from their work.

First table I set my eyes on were ate Yvette's (Yvette Ducut). Gladly, she still remembers me and even gave me one free postcard (since it's been a while since we met and it's hard to choose haha). Thank you ate Yvette! I enjoyed her stickers. It's waterproof, and the sticker statements were fun and different. Next was her table neighbor, ate Bem (Bem Zenit), whom I only got to meet recently! As usual, her postcards and whole set up gives the warm sunset in the cornfield vibes. I bought one big postcard with a quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald, and a small postcard with roses.

Then next table was kuya Leir's (John Leir)! Plenty of zines! Seriously, I enjoyed the zines I bought. So if you want one, they'd still be selling on BLTX 2017 on December 15, 2017 at Kape Naga. Check here for more details! Hopefully, I get to join too! I'll be releasing my prose and poetry collection + artworks. Anyway, the zines were amazing to read. It gives a short lived pain, but I still find it beautiful. Especially the one with historical revisionism, it was empowering, and it was deceiving (in a great way that made an amazing plot twist and ending!).

Then I looked up and saw ninja stickers!! It's Imagininja! I bought two, i wanna buy more but my budget is already low level and there are still six booths left to explore and spend my money on! I even want to buy the alphabet zine. But maybe next time. I also enjoyed his stickers, ninjas in different forms, doing...whatever. HAHAHA. Then the next table was The Four-Eyed Wonder. I knew her by face because like I said, I checked their Instagram feeds. I got excited to know more Bicolano Artists, that's why. Haha. How nice of her to have raffle for her products! But sadly, I didn't win. It was okay, I get to buy one postcard and I like it. Seeeeee:

Next to the line was ate Veeyah (Veeyah Penero) also known as The Indy Miss! She does digital calligraphy, and it's so satisfying to watch some of her clips doing it. Even her blog, oliviapenero.com, gives me all the inspiration to improve my craft. I bought one bookmark (and I kind of wish I bought more), and a mini brush calligraphy workbook. I seriously liked the bookmarks though! It's a 20-pointer motivational bookmark to start reading again!

Then the last two, were ate Isabelle (Isabella Oropesa) and kuya Ryan of ryandrawstuff! It was sweet of Ate Isabelle to actually know me, and acknowledge my skills on the field too. Hehe. I'm so happy I bought the gift tags. I can use it on Christmas with all the gift givings :) And finally, kuya Ryan's stickers are so cute! The difference of his stickers from everybody else is that it's all pastel colors. But seriously, each one of them has an amazing uniqueness and I can't wait to be a part of the growing community of Bicolano artists!

Hope you enjoyed! And I hope to attend more local art fairs and other events. Thank you to the organizers of Guibo Mi Yan for making this event possible :)

XOXO,
Sam
