How I'm Making Money Online + Links To Helpful Sites
For those of you who read my blog, you know by now that I left my current job a month ago because of wanting to embrace the stay-at-home work life, and even the digital nomadic life. For the past month of working and living in my hometown again, I’ve been able to do more things than when I was working in the city. Though I was able to travel more around during weekends (thanks to my travel buddy and boyfriend, Nikko). But being home-based has added benefits and the best one is you have flexible time.
For the past month also, I’ve had friends ask me where I’m working and how did I get the opportunity, or how’s it like living the stay-at-home life. From my personal experience, here are the stuff I did, or I had to do to land a job, and get more clients for sideline.
PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE. Getting the job at my current work wasn’t actually of my doing. I was referred to by a friend because he knows my potential. Why? Aside from already being able to work with him many times, I always share what I’m working on, online. The best social media networks for getting yourself out in the open is, of course, Facebook and Instagram. Facebook gives you a better chance of getting known through friends, and mutual friends. While Instagram gives you the chance to curate your feed, and can also stand as your added portfolio.
I also started joining events, and even creating one! That’s how you get known. Get in touch with your passion, with what you’re good at, and create connections, and eventually you will get better at your craft. If you’re into music, then create a band, or make song covers. If you love office work, but wants a more relaxing schedule, be a virtual assistant. People will eventually see your potential. One day, you’ll wake up to overwhelming offers you never thought would be possible.
SELL YOURSELF. While working as a full-time graphic artist for American Esports, a US-based gaming company, I still do freelance, and blogging.
Blogging is optional, but I think it's a really great way to get people to know you. Although my blog isn't monetized (yet lol), this is like my one-stop-shop.

See? It can all be in one single blog. You don't need to send multiple links.
One more thing: Full-time pero may time pa mag freelance? Yes. Even before, when I still have a regular 8-5PM job, I try to fit everything into my schedule. Joining events as a merchant is one of the hardest while working full time. The pre-production is just as tiring and time-consuming. But now, even though I’m a full-time, the company doesn’t need me 24/7. So I try to get clients when I’m not doing anything. For a beginner, you can try 199jobs.com. That’s where I started. And for almost 2 years now, I’m still active on the site.
TIPS: Always send your portfolio link when you’re sending your service offer. Clients like it better when they already have a reference on how you work, or what your style is.

Be approachable. I always end my message offer with “Thank you, and I hope to work with you!” It works! I’ve been using that as my tagline ever since. Because it doesn’t just make you seem very approachable, but you would seem very eager to work with a client and excited to produce the stuff they’re looking for.
In one week, I was able to earn almost Php 2,000 through a client who wants 3-4 contents on his Facebook Page weekly. It doesn’t happen every day, so it feels really great when you get an opportunity like that. So now, I’m still in touch with them because we still have a project to work on next month. See? It may be a small number for some, but I’m just starting, and every opportunity I get makes me happy!

IT’S RISKY BUT WHY IT’S WORTH THE SHOT. Online jobs are risky because you have to give up a stable job for something unsure. But there’s more of what the online world can offer, both financially and mentally. You grow from the rejections, you celebrate every opportunity, and you’re entitled to your own time.
Even until now, I haven’t stopped looking for more opportunities to earn online. It’s so vast, but you just need to arm yourself with knowledge on the digital world, how it works, and eventually, you’ll make your way through. It's not quick and easy, you need to endure a lot of waiting, and rejection, and waiting until you get one client. Once you get the hang of it, it will all be worth it.
